Eagle Initiation (8/16): On Friday, 8/16, new cadets attended this event where they received a preview of what the semester will bring. They were also able to learn and practice the basics of drill, and reporting in.
TW-01 LLAB (8/22): Briefs, briefs, and more briefs! During this first LLab, cadets received their mandatory Form-16 brief. However, it was led by the POC Corps this time around.
Wisdom from the Cadet Vice Wing Commander
Q: What is the biggest advice you can give the new AS100s?
“Enjoy your journey… We often get too focused on our end goal of commissioning that we forget to stop and enjoy the journey along the way. Get the most out of your time here in college and ROTC”
Q: As you enter your final year in the program, what excites you most?
“I’m most excited to see my old FTP cadets take over and lead this detachment as a new POC. I love seeing the progression of my peers, as they gain new leadership skills and develop themselves, I think it’s one of the most rewarding things in this program.”
C/Col Robertson is an AS400. His desired AFSC is Logistics Readiness Officer (21RX). He majors in Marketing at the Ryan College of Business here at UNT
Although each individual in the program is considered a cadet, they are all also a full-time student at either the University of North Texas or one of the many cross-town universities that the Detachment works with.
That being said, college students can do a variety of things during the summer months: Work, Travel, Hobbies, and maybe even all the above!
So what exactly did some of the cadets at our Detachment do over the last few months? Let’s take a look:
